Swine FLue Update

In the last week, we have all learned more about Influenza A (H1N1) than we ever wanted… The phrase “swine flu” sparks an immediate reaction.

NDC recognizes that our member distributors play a vital role in the healthcare supply chain. NDC has been working diligently with all manufacturer vendor partners to ensure that our organization receives a fair share of supplies and products that your customers are demanding. You should know that some suppliers have or will go into allocation mode based on prior order history. We are closely monitoring purchases; NDC will allocate if necessary in a responsible manner. Our executives and inventory control team remain in constant communication related to open orders, expected delivery timelines and placing new inventory supply orders as needed.

Above all, we are very conscious to not begin a panic situation. We are all in this together.

As with any instance of Influenza, common sense is to exercise prevention & protection.

Wash hands frequently, disinfect surfaces, and wear protective apparel such as masks.

NOTE: Certain flu test kits identify and differentiate a positive A&B strain… If a positive type A strain is detected, the doctor’s office should know to send the specimen off to be subtyped for the H1-N1 strain. NDC is procuring the Specimen transport swab set for this purpose.
